We share a glimpse of the Mission Helper activity through the following summary of:

Volunteer Opportunities, Family and Friends Events Calendar, our annually published Mission Helper Liturgical Calendar and our News on the Missions.

The Family and Friends Auxiliary is a major part of the overall Mission Helper's Volunteer Program designed to help advance the mission and goals of the Community. Mission Helper volunteers are used primarily at the Mission Helper Center in Baltimore, Maryland although they may be assigned to other mission locations depending on their geographical proximity.

The volunteers are not employees and do not receive payment in any form. They are individuals who have an interest and/or personal connection in the work and ministry of the Mission Helpers and who offer their service to one or more departments within the Community. The primary function of the volunteers is to handle labor intensive tasks that free employed staff to perform the range of duties and responsibilities that cannot be assigned to volunteers.

There are three major departments at the Mission Helper Center in which volunteers are used:

• Mission Helper Center - to serve as receptionist and assist with tasks of duplicating, mailing and other clerical functions.
• Office of Mission Advancement - to assist the development director and staff with duplicating, filing, bulk mail preparation, envelope coding, donor thank you letter mailings and other projects as needed, such as the Annual Crab Feast.
• Financial Office - to assist the director with mailing, shredding and other clerical support functions.

Individuals offering their services in these areas are considered according to department needs, the available skills of the prospective volunteer and scheduling requirements. All volunteers receive appropriate training in their respective assignments and have an opportunity to participate in regular Mission Helper events, spiritual services and special trips.
